AFSE members overwhelmingly voted to ratify the 2008-11 contract. Nearly 90% of AFSE members voted in the online election. Later in the day, the NEA Executive Committee also voted to ratify meaning the contract is now in effect. Thanks to Rocio Inclan and Betty Jeung for the smooth operation of the online election.

By last Thursday, all language from the “conceptual agreement” had been signed on to by both parties. Late Wednesday afternoon, the AFSE Executive Committee voted to strongly support and encourage passage of the the tentative agreement. What happened today was nothing short of marvelous. Today, June 4, AFSE has a tentative agreement for its 13th overall staff contract. Members from AFSE, NEASO, IUOE and Member Benefits were present in the NEA Atrium at 12:15 to celebrate the victory. Everyday, we work with our members to obtain fair contracts and to reject take-backs from management during bargaining, yet every proposal sent from NEA management during bargaining has contained some form of take-backs. AFSE calls on NEA to practice what “we” preach.
