The Planning Process

Review of the planning process:

1. Examine current status and check resources that are already in place.

2. Develop goals, strategies and activities for the area that were identified by
the local. For example, if communications was selected what is the identifiable
goal and the plan back from that, what do they wish to see happen and how
will that be achieved and measured.
3. In the planning process be mindful of the following components that may need to be
addressed in the plan:

a. Make sure the goal is stated
b. Resources: time, people, $, and materials
c. Coordination: who is responsible for what
d. Calendar: when do we want to be done – work backwards
e. Communications: within and outside the Association
f. Implementation cycle- plan, do, check, refine
g. Budget: will you need it and how much
h. Evaluation: how do you know if your plan is working and how do you know what
others are thinking

4. How does the plan strengthen the local?
