Members and non-members of the Wyoming Education Association and Student WEA are greeted by their association's logo when they sign in to search for lesson plans and other free classroom resources. GEM helps educators clearly see the value in becoming a member of WEA by giving them direct, free access to over 49,000 resources.
Last month we announced what we thought was an extraordinary leap in traffic. We were wrong! The month of February 2008 dwarfed the traffic that we experienced in January 2008. The Gateway recorded a 41% increase in visitors in February 2008 compared to February 2007!
Needless to say, we are thrilled that so many dedicated professional educators and education students have found us and found us valuable.

April 2008 – March 2008 shows 45% increase in visits to the Gateway over March 2007. The Gateway community keeps growing and growing as Web 2.0 empowers collaboration!
This update contains information about the consortiums intent to significantly upgrade GEM to support engaging its millions of return visitors by leveraging the latest in social media tools--e.g., "Digg."

May 2008 – April 2008 shows 23% increase in visits to the Gateway over April 2007! This month, our 1,000,000th visitor to the Gateway!
Figures indicate that sometime in the month of May, the third week to be more precise, we will have the one millionth visit to the Gateway since reopening and the NEA became our sponsor less than two years ago!
A million visits is a milestone worth completing and signify the realization of a goal for which we at the Gateway are tremendously grateful.

June 2008 – May 2008 shows 17% increase in visits to the Gateway over May 2007!
Over 1,000,000 visits and still growing! New resources, features and partnerships in the wings!
Last month we started the count toward our next million visits to the Gateway to 21st Century Skill since NEA began our sponsorship. As observed in last month’s update that is phenomenal! But, we are not satisfied that this pace is enough. We want the growth in visits to continue to escalate and the contents of our repositories to grow right along with visits so we can make an even bigger contribution to the lives we touch across the educational enterprise.

Thousands of educators per day are going on line for help and answers to the challenges of keeping abreast of technology and 21st educational century practices. The bottom line is that educators are looking for 21st century educational information on a very large scale and finding it at the Gateway.

March, 2009 - 83.5% of visitors add the Gateway to 21st Century Skills to browser favorites!
Over 80 % of the visitors to the Gateway to 21st Century Skills added our Gateway site to their browser favorites or bookmarks in the month of February 2009. Mid month of March, 83.5% have added the Gateway to their favorites or bookmarks.

Today’s special feature is…you!!!
Yes, you. It is all about you and the skills, insights, and dedication that you bring to the Gateway to 21st Century Skills. Our membership applications are up since our technologic backend revamp of the website. The speed and efficiency that came from those technical improvements have made our numbers soar and the number of people bookmarking the Gateway is unbelievable.
Now, it is time to focus on what the Gateway to 21st Century Skills can do to bring more of our member’s talents, interests and enthusiasm to the forefront.
Executive Director Diny Golder and Project Manager Bruce Walker met with Don Blake of NEA Public Relations, at the NEA headquarters in Washington DC last month to plan and map out the upcoming advances in the evolution of the Gateway to 21st Century Skills.

We have added some great new learning resources as you will see in our “What’s New?” section. September, 2009 – 210% growth in memberships, 77% of visitors Bookmark the Gateway, new Gateway launch September 15th.
At the Gateway to 21st Century Skills, we have experienced a 210% increase in membership during the period of January 2008 to July 2009. That is amazing and we are grateful to our dedicated members and users but, we think that cycle will shorten with our new improved web site!

July 2010 Update
The Gateway to 21st Century Skills has been generating buzz in educational blogs and social networking sites this July as it continues to offer a huge variety of resources to educators around the world.
COMING SOON! The JES & Co. team is creating a wonderful new tool for educators using The Gateway to 21st Century Skills. A new feature on the main page of The Gateway will allow educators to discover resources that relate to a particular state standard they need to cover. We are so excited to be able to offer this tool for teachers as they prepare for the school year. This is an important time for teacher planning as the summer winds down and the school year gears up. With such a huge focus on standards right now, this will be an indispensable tool for educators.

We are adding new, high quality free resources to the collection every day to help educators maintain variety in their classrooms. These resources are even easier than ever to implement since teachers can use the standards selection tool to discover which state standards are met in each lesson.
